This month’s Apothecary Recipe is for the dapper gentleman. Make your own natural beard balm to help soften, condition and tame your scruff. We’ve chosen a combination of moisturizing and hydrating carrier oils to soothe the skin and condition the hair. Together with a refreshingly masculine blend of essential oils, this cruelty free leave-in conditioner will bring out your beard’s natural luster.
• 1/4 cup carnauba wax
• 1/4 cup shea butter
• 2 tablespoons coconut oil
• 2 tablespoons meadowfoam seed oil
• 1 tablespoon vitamin E oil
• 20 drops fir needle essential oil
• 12 drops frankincense essential oil
• 8 drops rosemary essential oil
Makes approx. 4oz
Using a double broiler, melt the wax and oils together. Then stir in the essential oils. Once combined, pour into 2oz (or 4oz) metal or glass containers. Set aside to harden. Carnauba wax takes approximately three days to harden fully, so be sure to wait to use your beard balm if you can.
How to Apply:
Scoop out a dime sized amount of balm and lightly rub it between your fingers. Then rub your fingers through your beard from root to tip until evenly distributed. Smooth out any stray hairs and neatly shape your beard to your liking.
