Bath bombs are fun and easy to make and this month we've got a recipe perfect for the kiddos in your life. Make up a batch (you can even invite your kids to help you) and watch them have some extra fun during bath time as they watch their homemade bath bomb fizz away to reveal a surprise toy inside!
(makes approx. 8 bath bombs)
• 2 cups sodium bicarbonate (baking soda)
• 1 cup citric acid
• 3 tablespoons kaolin clay
• 1/4 cup dried calendula petals
• 25 drops lemon essential oil
• 5 drops geranium essential oil
• 1/2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil
• Witch hazel
• Small waterproof toys
• Large mixing bowl
• Measuring cups and spoons
• Spray bottle
• Silicone mold
In a large mixing bowl combine the baking soda, citric acid and kaolin clay. Blend well using your hands to break up any clumps.
Once fully combined add in the essential oils, using your hands again to mix completely.
Next mix in the calendula petals and olive oil. Continue mixing.
Finally, fill a spray bottle with witch hazel and spray into the mix. Start with just a few sprays and continue mixing and spraying until the mixture just begins to hold together (I used about 4 sprays).
Fill the bottom of your mold with a layer of the mix, then drop in the toys.
Fill each mold to the top, using your hands to press the mixture tightly into each mold.
Once finished let dry for 5-10 minutes then carefully flip over the mold and release the bath bombs. Leave overnight to dry.
How To Use:
Add a bath bomb to your child's warm bath and watch it fizz until the surprise toy is revealed!
