When it comes to caring for our little ones we want to give them the best we can offer and that includes the bath and body products they use. I tend to avoid any product that contains synthetic materials or unnatural ingredients and would of course, do the same for the children in my life. When you make it yourself, you have complete control of the ingredients and most often, you can save money too!
With just a few simple ingredients you can make your own Herbal Baby Oil at home. We've chosen a blend of three oils infused with three baby-friendly herbs along with lavender essential oil to create a body oil gentle enough for baby's sensitive skin.
(Makes approx. two cups)
• 1 cup extra virgin olive oil
• 1/2 cup coconut oil
• 1/2 cup jojoba oil
• 1 tablespoon dried chamomile
• 1 tablespoon dried calendula
• 1 tablespoon dried lavender
• 24 drops lavender essential oil
• Measuring cups and spoons
• Mason Jar
• Large bowl or another mason jar
• Mesh strainer
• Coffee filter
• 3 4oz amber glass bottles with pump
Combine the olive, coconut and jojoba oils in a clean, dry mason jar.
Then add in the herbs.
Cover the jar with a lid and give it a good shake to mix. Place in a sunny windowsill to infuse for 30 days, giving it a good shake every now and then.
Using a mesh strainer, strain the herbs into a clean jar or bowl. If you notice there's still herb particles in the oil after straining, you can strain a second time through cheese cloth or a coffee filter.
Pour herb infused oil into three 4 oz amber glass bottles (feel free to use a different size if you prefer).
Add 8 drops of lavender essential oil to each bottle (24 drops total).
Insert pump and screw on tight, giving it a good shake to mix in the essential oil. Store in a cool dark place.
